chess piece

Chess piece
For this piece of work we had to design a kaiju themed chess piece. I had to specifically design the king chess piece for this piece of work. The chess piece had to be big and bulky and have something unique about it. here are some of my initial ideas.

Next I chose to develop one of the 4 ideas that I had and I chose to develop one more the chess piece that I was going to choose to develop was going to be my final idea so here are the developed ideas.

After developing these ides I then had to choose one and then draw it from different angles e.g. top and side. this gives people an idea to what the chess piece would look like if it were to be fully developed. here are the sketches from other angles.
here are the different angles, their not the best due to myself no being overly artistic or being advanced with Photoshop. The 3 angles that can be seen here are from the front, side and top.

P4,P5 create original graphic images

Development  Log for Logo.

I am making a game on Game maker called kaiju pop, to make the game look more professional I had to make a poster for the game and now I had to make logo to represent the game as well. it had to be simple, definitive, easy to draw and most importantly had to represent my game well. First I sketched up a couple of quick ideas as can be seen below.
After developing these sketches I then decided to get some feedback from peers about what they thought about the ideas, which one was best, which ones could use improvement. I posted the picture on edmodo and got feedback this was one of them.

From this I gathered that the logo on the far corner is my best design but  i wanted to develop more to relate it to my game more and more. So I went on 'Adobe Illustrator' to make the logo and came up with this design.

After making this logo I decided to see who like it, so I made a questionnaire to see who like it, the questionnaire showed me who my target audience are and more importantly who like the logo with the questions. this was the questionnaire that I developed.
From the questionnaire results I decided to make an infographic to look more into my target audience and to see who actually like the logo. This is the infographic that I created using 'Adobe Photoshop'.

From this infographic I gathered so much interesting information such as, nearly half of the people who took the questionnaire turned out to be female which I found interesting but studies suggest that 45 % of gamers are female. Another interesting thing I gathered through the infographic is that most of the people who took the survey are in the age range of 16-20 which was equally interesting as studies equally show that gamers 32% of gamers are ranged from 16-20. and lastly i gathered from my infographic that more people who are what I would consider as part of my targeted audience thought the logo was good. so with ease I decided to make this my logo.

Development log for marquee

As well as making a logo for my game I had to make a marquee for my game as well. at first I designed a couple and got feedback from my peers to see what one they liked and suggested improvements.

This is the first marquee I designed and I got some feedback of two peers:
Tom: I like the swatch inside the text, its easy to read but I don't like the background as its too basic and the pink outline doesn't look good either.
Dan: the swatch is a good feature I equally like the background but the pink outline doesn't work well.

Marquee 2
Tom: I really like this one because the swatche is similar to your logo, the only negative is that the font is a little difficult to read.
Dan : I really like this one but I don't see how it relates to your game.
Marquee 3
Tom: I like this one the least because the font is hard to read and the swatche behind the text is that good.
Dan: this is probably the least attractive one because the text is difficult to read and the pink outline doesn't look good as well.

Using feedback for improvement
After getting feedback from peers I decided to go with marquee 2 but to make improvements towards it from the feed back I received.  I changed the swatche behind to something more colourful  but kept it the same swatche design so that it looks similar to my logo and then I changed the font of the text and made it bold and black so that its easy to read this is the improved logo.

Final Marquee

Development log for Poster

As well as making a logo and marquee for my game I had to make a poster for my game equally. I made a poster and got feedback from two of my peers to see what they thought.

Original poster

 Feedback
Tom: I really like this poster its very cool and relates to your game a lot, I cant really spot that many negatives but the only 2 things I would change is the texture of Godzilla to make it look smoother apart from that very good poster.

Dan: awesome poster, not many negatives minus the text is a bit hard to read maybe change the colour or font of the text apart from that awesome poster.

New poster
After the feedback I decide to take on the improvement so I changed the texture of Godzilla to make the image look smoother and more realistic than what it already was, also I change the colour of the text to plain white and repositioned it to make it easier to read.

P1, M1, and D1 (hardware and sofware used to create an edit images), (Compare limitations of software and hardware) and (evaluate imact of evolving output mediums)

P1 Hardware and Software required with manipulating images
M1 Compare limitations of Hardware and software

Hardware and software required working with graphic images
Hardware
Graphics card: The Graphics card can also be known as a Video card, it is a piece of hardware that is installed into every computer which is responsible for putting all the pixels in order and together; to do this it takes binary data from the CPU and turns it into an image that we can see on our screens this is why graphics cards are very important with
Digital graphics.

CPU: A central processing unit (CPU) is the hardware within a computer that carries out the instructions of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetical, logical, and input/output operations of the system. CPU’s work with graphic images in the sense that the more instructions the CPU can process the more graphic programs the CPU will be able to run such ah adobe Photoshop and more.

RAM: This is the random access memory (RAM) that is a type of internal memory in computers; this stores data such as programmes and data so that the computers processer can reach it quickly and easily. The RAM is activated when the computer turned on and it loses its data once the computer is turned off, the hard drive gives the RAM its data. Ram works with digital graphics in the sense that you can run digital graphics applications at a high performance without them crashing when editing images also more space to store those images.

Hard drive: These are a type of external storage device for a computer; they are very useful because they have a high memory sometimes exceeding the amount of storage on the computer itself. They can also be used as a backup device for your programmer and files; this is needed because there is a constant threat of viruses from the internal hard drives that can affect the data. Also these are good for storing thousands of graphic images that may be produced on a computer or a graphics tablet.
Mouse: A mouse allows you to interact with the image, apart from the keyboard it’s one of the only methods to interact with the actual image. The mouse is used to move, create things on the image. Without a mouse things will take much longer so it is the key method of graphic interface. Also trying to manipulate images without a mouse would be extremely difficult.
Screen: The only effect a screen has is if the image won’t be as easy to see and therefore manipulate if the screen size isnt a high resolution. In order to get the most from any graphics programme a high definition monitor is required.

Graphics tablets: Graphic tablets are for more artistic purposes, sometimes graphic designers need computers to be as good as they are, where as artists can use a graphics tablet in the same way as theyd draw on paper this makes things like free drawing more accurate an precise instead of using a mouse.

Digital camera: Digital cameras are purely used to get the image onto the computer ready to be manipulated. The camera itself is never used to edit graphics, although some cameras do have the ability to edit images but is often not up to the quality of a computer.

Software

Photoshop: Photoshop is photo manipulation software, which is developed by Adobe; this software is expensive ranging from £179 to £709, the least expensive is the simple version whereas the more expensive versions

Include upgrades and have extended features. This is very widely used to create graphic images because it is very highly developed and can change or edit any type of image, which makes this very useful for a graphic designer.

Aperture: is an highly developed software used to manipulate images. Aperture is only available on Mac computers due to being apple

Software. Aperture can be purchased from the app store for 59 pounds. Aperture has a few similar features to Photoshop but is not as superior due to Photoshop having many more features and upgraded features.
