P1, M1, and D1 (hardware and sofware used to create an edit images), (Compare limitations of software and hardware) and (evaluate imact of evolving output mediums)

P1 Hardware and Software required with manipulating images
M1 Compare limitations of Hardware and software

Hardware and software required working with graphic images
Hardware
Graphics card: The Graphics card can also be known as a Video card, it is a piece of hardware that is installed into every computer which is responsible for putting all the pixels in order and together; to do this it takes binary data from the CPU and turns it into an image that we can see on our screens this is why graphics cards are very important with
Digital graphics.

CPU: A central processing unit (CPU) is the hardware within a computer that carries out the instructions of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetical, logical, and input/output operations of the system. CPU’s work with graphic images in the sense that the more instructions the CPU can process the more graphic programs the CPU will be able to run such ah adobe Photoshop and more.

RAM: This is the random access memory (RAM) that is a type of internal memory in computers; this stores data such as programmes and data so that the computers processer can reach it quickly and easily. The RAM is activated when the computer turned on and it loses its data once the computer is turned off, the hard drive gives the RAM its data. Ram works with digital graphics in the sense that you can run digital graphics applications at a high performance without them crashing when editing images also more space to store those images.

Hard drive: These are a type of external storage device for a computer; they are very useful because they have a high memory sometimes exceeding the amount of storage on the computer itself. They can also be used as a backup device for your programmer and files; this is needed because there is a constant threat of viruses from the internal hard drives that can affect the data. Also these are good for storing thousands of graphic images that may be produced on a computer or a graphics tablet.
Mouse: A mouse allows you to interact with the image, apart from the keyboard it’s one of the only methods to interact with the actual image. The mouse is used to move, create things on the image. Without a mouse things will take much longer so it is the key method of graphic interface. Also trying to manipulate images without a mouse would be extremely difficult.
Screen: The only effect a screen has is if the image won’t be as easy to see and therefore manipulate if the screen size isnt a high resolution. In order to get the most from any graphics programme a high definition monitor is required.

Graphics tablets: Graphic tablets are for more artistic purposes, sometimes graphic designers need computers to be as good as they are, where as artists can use a graphics tablet in the same way as theyd draw on paper this makes things like free drawing more accurate an precise instead of using a mouse.

Digital camera: Digital cameras are purely used to get the image onto the computer ready to be manipulated. The camera itself is never used to edit graphics, although some cameras do have the ability to edit images but is often not up to the quality of a computer.

Software

Photoshop: Photoshop is photo manipulation software, which is developed by Adobe; this software is expensive ranging from £179 to £709, the least expensive is the simple version whereas the more expensive versions

Include upgrades and have extended features. This is very widely used to create graphic images because it is very highly developed and can change or edit any type of image, which makes this very useful for a graphic designer.

Aperture: is an highly developed software used to manipulate images. Aperture is only available on Mac computers due to being apple

Software. Aperture can be purchased from the app store for 59 pounds. Aperture has a few similar features to Photoshop but is not as superior due to Photoshop having many more features and upgraded features.
